Inspiration

Where do you get your inspiration?

About two and a half years ago, after having my son and heading back to work, I was looking for inspiration.  I have a wonderful husband, a great family and friends that I adore, but I somehow felt that I was lacking inspiration.  I suppose it could have been just me coming back to work from maternity leave, realizing that there was more to life than sitting in an office, which  by the way had no windows at the time.

I found my love of the blogging world.  I still love the blogging world.  I am so inspired by the crafts, sewing projects, stories of other moms and so much more.  And today I read this from Design Mom and it all came together for me.

I have found a friend in my computer that can link me up to some of my favorite blogs.  I don’t know any of these wonderful women personally, but I love them just the same.  You can see a list of them here.  My blog is still under construction with lots I have to learn, but I like the outlet I have here.

Thank you for reading and tell me…

where do you find your inspiration?

Don’t Forget Your Towel, or Robe

Beach weather is upon us and I am itching to get outside and enjoy it.
I think it is hardest to work full time in the summer.  I would much rather be out there playing with all the kids that are home from
school.  The bonus is we have stellar evenings and it stays lighter longer.  I will take it!

Since summer is here and we will be spending some time at our favorite camp site, with pools and lakes in our near future, I saw this robe on MADE and had to buy the pattern.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it and I have bought all the material to make two of these robes.  Now I just need to find some spare time to get it done.  Definitely on the bucket list for this summer, before the end of summer.  Heck, I want to stay up all night and do it now!!

I can’t wait to see the final product!

Perfect for this little beach bum...

Oh Patios!

I could browse over patios all day.  The sun is shining and all I want is a pergola and a patio set with a comfy chair or lounger.  Ahhh  Check out a few pics from Meg at Whatever.  Totally beautiful!

A lovely patio is not in the budget for this summer, but I will dream for future summers,  In the meantime, the husband and I are looking at water toys like this one at Pottery Barn for the boys.

We will have fun whatever we decide on.  I look forward to more summer fun with these two munchkins.

Hello Summer

I think the weather has finally decided to catch up with the calendar.
Hello summer, nice for you to show up.

Now we can talk water!

This place looks cool.  My dad lives in Fairfield and I passed by one day this winter and it caught my eye.  I loved water parks as a kid, but haven't been to one in a very long time.  In fact the last time was at a water park it was Schlitterbahn with my brother when I was in grad school.  So much fun!  Except the flash flood in the middle of the day... I digress...

And now that summer has decided to join us we can go to Mortons Warm Springs which is very close to our house.  I am excited to visit this long time destination spot.    KJ has his noodle and is ready for the water!

And as a side note, nothing beats running through the sprinklers in the backyard.

To Our Health

I have a coworker who is a health food nut and she likes to inform me of the foods that are really good for you and why.  I have been
walking with her to get ready for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer coming up next month.

She says in another life she would have majored in Food Science.  I believe her and she would have been awesome.

Anyway she turned me on to Kashi cereal with tons of fiber.  Cinnamon apparently regulates the sugar in your blood.  Who knew?  I sure didn't.  And it does lots of other things too.

And she talks about flaxseed all the time, so I looked it up.

She is right.  Flaxseed is really good for you and you can add it to lots of things.  So, I am making a mental note and going to add
cinnamon and flaxseed to anything I can. Thanks Shannon for the tips, keep them coming.

This mouth (and all four of our bodies) will thank you!  Add these to the bucket list soon so we don't have to worry about kicking
it as early.

The Boat

We have a boat… not something I thought I would ever say in my life...

but we have inherited a boat.

I am warming up to the idea.  I didn’t grow up with a boat or spend that much time on the water, but Conn is pretty excited about it.  This boat has been in his family for several years and has been a bit neglected.  So, one of our summer projects is to get the boat in working order.  We are excited to get it up to our favorite camp site in Calaveras County for one of the many lakes.

Not sure when this boat last saw water.  Hopefully 2011 will be her time.

I could see myself lounging on the boat soaking up some rays.  Now how about this guy?

The Grand Canyon

On the travel note, it is funny that sometimes you have to leave home to realize how wonderful it is.  I always think about that when we fly home to San Francisco.  We live in an awesome place.

The family we spend most of our time with in Germany loves the Grand Canyon, Salt Lake City and the likes.  I have never been to the Grand Canyon, Salt Lake, or any places in that region.  Conn says the Grand Canyon is AMAZING and he has about 200 photos to prove his fascination.  I admit that I have made fun of these many photos because to me they all look pretty much the same.

So, we must get to the Grand Canyon.  It must be amazing!  I would like to add Salt Lake City to the list as well.

Are you ready?

The Travel Bug

I have decided that the more I travel the more I want to travel.  We have been in Germany for the last few weeks and we had a wonderful, family filled, coffee drinking, cake eating, hiking good time.  Much of our time was made up of this.

We didn’t do that much actually, but it got us thinking that when the boys are older, we would love to spend some time with family and then some time taking European adventures.  Rome is somewhere I really want to go.  When the boys can appreciate it more, we will.  I have other places on my list too.  Till then, I will sip coffee and eat cake in Germany instead of eating gelato in Italy.  Still pretty great I would say!!
