5 Years Today!

Happy Anniversary to my sweet, crazy, funny and oh so romantic husband.  I love you so much and can't believe we are at 5 years already!  That flew by.  I wish us 100 more years together.  I couldn't imagine my world without you!

By the way, Yosemite called and said they miss us and we need to visit very soon.  :-)

On A Roll

Gosh what a great weekend!  Some weekends are really great. And some weekends can feel like you are either chasing your tail or constantly fighting with a very stubborn 3-year-old.  Although the topic of conversation with other parents of 3-year-olds was how difficult 3-year-olds can be, this weekend was really great.  As a side note, it is very refreshing to talk with friends who know exactly what you are going through because they are too.  What was established is that terrible 2’s are nothing compared to these 3’s.  Right KJ?

This weekend, we worked on potty time (no, not quite 100% trained yet) and sleeping in one's bed (nope, doesn’t quite do this all the time yet either) and it proved to be successful.  In addition, we are hoping EJ will forget about his pacifier (papi) soon and snuggle with his giraffe.  Successful weekend and smiles all around!

I love it when I feel like we what we are doing is working.  Many nights we lie in bed and talk about what we should be doing differently, change something up, more of this, less of that.  Yadda yadda.  Where is the manual? Oh wait, they didn’t come with one.  Well this weekend was great and I feel energized and ready to continue the potty, no papi, sleeping in one's own bed week.  To be continued…wish us luck!

In the meantime, we enjoyed the day at Clayton's Oktoberfest!  Prost!

Welcome Fall

I like change, I do.  I like the refreshing breeze of mixing things up and making something new.  So, I may be weird, but there you go, in my world, change is good. And, tis the season for it.  The leaves are changing color all around Sonoma.
I suppose having kids helps a lot with my love of change, things don't stay the same for too long with them.   A double-edge sword, really.  My mom used to say she wanted to put bricks on our heads to keep us from growing up.  I think I feel the same with my boys some days.  Other days I wonder when we will outgrow this lovely trait (screaming, biting, whatever the case may be).  I digress...
As we settle into the end of summer and look forward to fall, I am looking for a change.  I thought it would come in one form, but that has not come to fruition, so I will have to look for it elsewhere.  Part of me wants to do a complete overhaul of my house clean, purge, clean purge, but that is not realistic right now (maybe a Spring cleaning).  A small change will be just fine.  So, before the weather changes too much, I will be on the lookout for a project to fill the void.
Tune in for photos.  Till then, enjoy the Fall.  It is here and it is my fave!

Howarth Park

These monkeys love to play...and explore...and play.  Our backyard is great, but who can beat a great park.

As a kid, I remember going to Howarth Park in Santa Rosa.  Well I completely forgot about it until I ran into the name 3 times in one day.  Once, on this very cool site called Trekaroo.  Seriously cute name, right?

Well I haven't taken my boys there yet, but it is definitely on the list.  And not just a one time thing either.  We must be frequent visitors to Howarth Park!  They must know us by name.  I can't wait to go!  EJ is ready with his two hats.  Extra sun protection.

Friday Night Food Trucks

Food trucks seem to be all the rage right now.  So, my good friend Nichelle decided she had a bucket list item that needed to be crossed off before the end of September.  A girls night was in order!  So, we headed over to the Food Truck Crush here in Marin at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal.  To my surprise, it was a totally kid friendly atmosphere.  Face painting, a DJ, hay bails for lounging and little ones running all over.  Totally fun!  But, since it was girls only, I was happy to not have to chase anyone.
Followed by a chick flick, it was a great evening.  Thanks Nichelle!  And if you want to know more about the food trucks, check out this article in the Marin IJ.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a spot that was definitely on our list.  I haven't been there in a very long time and the boys had never been, so we crossed it off the list.  We have some wonderful friends who live in the Monterey area, so we made it a double family event.  And what a great time we had!!  Thanks Wells Family for the hospitality and for having a little man right in between our two.  With a one year old, two year old and three year old, it was a busy day!  Four adults were definitely needed to wrangle these three.

Summer Continues

As much as I would like to see Fall here, next week is supposed to be warm again, so summer continues.  Before it is too late, I have to post these adorable beach towel/robes.  Dana over at MADE posted these a while ago and I decided I had to have them for the boys.  So, I picked out the material and begged my mom to make the robes.  She agreed and they turned out so great.  Thank you MOM!!!!

Remembering

It was a wonderful weekend with friends and another day I will have to post the great time we had crossing something off of our bucket list.
But it was also a weekend of remembering.  Remembering those who are no longer with us and those who risked and gave their lives saving others.  I have never been to New York, but the imagines I see every year on this day since September 11, 2001 are unforgettable.  I know that I would like to get to ground zero to pay my respects and to remember.  I am moved by the stories, the sad stories and the stories of survival, the children, the mothers, the fathers, the friends and the loved ones.  I cry every year like it was the first.
On that day, 10 years ago (wow has it already been 10 years) the country was changed.  Definitely on our bucket list, not just a trip to New York City to see all the wonderful things, but a trip to New York to remember.
In the meantime, we will never forget!!

A Labor Day Weekend in the Future

After some produce sharing and story swaping from the long weekend with the neighbor, she mentioned they took their family of 6 and headed to Spring Lake.  This lake is right up Highway 12, just a short jaunt from our neighborhood and they spent the day swimming and having a great time.

I guess I didn't think about it, but there are a few lakes around us...very convenient.  She did mention that having little ones up there might be difficult since the swimming hole is mostly filled with older kids, but I will definitely put it on the bucket list.  Sounds like a great day trip!

And thank you for the apples Pam!

Breakfast

Growing up I was never really a breakfast person.  In fact, even now I could eat cereal every day and be fine with it.  But, Conn and the boys like their breakfast and we make a family event out of going to new places in the area.  I have to say, my favorite so far is Fremont Diner.  Their gritz are so good and many of the items on the menu include a pork product.  Yum!

So, I am always on the lookout for new places for breakfast.  A few in Sonoma we want to try are Sunflower Caffe, the patio looks awesome, and  El Dorado Kitchen on the square.

But I also want to highlight this blog called Simply Breakfast all about breakfast   Seriously yummy looking stuff.

I don't care where I eat as long as I get to look at this face!
