Just Plain Silly!

We are silly.  All 4 of us.  I hope that never changes.  No matter how many things I have on the bucket list for the future, silly times are always happening around here.  Pretty much every day.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

Fun in a laundry basket never gets old.

Under the Tuscan Sun

Have you seen the movie Under the Tuscan Sun?  I love it!  It is one of my favorites and I could watch it over and over again.  Oh, wait…I do.  Extra bonus, Conn likes Diane Lane, so he will watch it with me.  Anyway, there is a quote that I adore from that movie and it is on my mind today.
“Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. They built these tracks even before there was a train in existence that could make the trip. They built it because they knew some day, the train would come.”
As I have mentioned, I like change and feel great when new things are thrown at me.  I heard somewhere the other day that people are happiest when they have small changes and novelties in their life.
This quote is on my mind because I would like a small change.  I don’t know the details.  I am not sure how it will all fit together.  I just know that I am ready to grow a bit more.  Learn, grow and change just a bit.
2012, I am determined to make you a year of new opportunities.  Not sure what they are yet, but I am building the tracks.  One day I hope to make it to a new peak of the mountain.
Cheers to that!

Family Game Night

Right now, our evenings are full of fun.  Capes were a huge hit for Christmas and I think they are pretty adorable!  Although I love this, I am also looking forward to instituting family game night.  I was reminded by my lovely husband that it is probably a little early for this.  Concentration and patience are not always the strengths of an almost 2 and 3 year old.

But Candyland, Shoots and Ladders and Connect 4 are on my mind.  Can't wait for family game night!  Added to the bucket list.

Till then we will have superheros jumping...

and checking out what is on tv.

Shoes

Moms with boys, you must already know this, but I am here to state the obvious.  Boys are rough on their shoes.  These boys go through shoes like nobody’s business.  Seriously!  Is this what is to come?  I think the answer is yes.  Boys are rough and tumble and don’t really care if they ruin their shoes while running, biking, climbing, wrestling etc.  I bought these shoes for EJ in November and look at them

I think KJ started wearing these around the same time

Good thing I have a dear friend who has stocked us up with shoes for the next 5 sizes.  Thank you Rebecca!  Because at this rate, we could be going through a pair of shoes every 3 months.
I am preparing myself to buy lots of shoes in the future and stock up on patches (for knees).  Oh and I learned early not to buy light colored shirts.  Love these boys and all their energy!  Play on boys!

Happiness

Funny thing about January.  A new year, new adventures, new goals and I get this "out with the old, in with the new" attitude.  It happens to me every year.  Most people do Spring cleaning, I do January cleaning.  I love it.  It is refreshing!

This winter has been an interesting one so far.  Very challenging.  In fact, I can't say I have ever felt the way I am feeling now.  Recent loss and sadness in the last month or so definitely has me thinking A LOT.  But in all that thinking, I am realizing, once again how much I have and how happy I am.

After a conversation yesterday with two wonderful ladies in my life, my mom and grandma, on how lives can't be perfect, we all have something we need to work on.  I have to say (again) I have it pretty darn good. Perfect in fact (with just some small imperfections).

So, in light of a new year, I hope you are finding what makes you happy.  Out with the old or keeping things status quo, I am sending good thoughts to you.  May perfection find you in whatever form you see it.

Italy in 2012?

After reading this post on Oh Happy Day  I am totally thinking about Rome.  It is a place we would like to go, eventually, but wow, look at those photos.  Even in the rain, it is beautiful.

International travel with the boys is very important to us.  And, with family in Germany, we have the great opportunity to make the trek on a pretty regular basis.

But I am wanting a new destination.  With a new year, I am looking forward to planning an trip.  Not sure where to yet.   Italy...maybe you will be 2012.  Pizza and gelato, what more could you ask for?

Bellissimo!!

Savoring More Moments

And speaking of savoring the moment, this little guy rocks my world every day.

Easy going, loves to sleep, eat, sing and dance.  In 2012 he will also:
                      start preschool
probably start using the potty (he seems more interested than his brother)
maybe get a big boy bed (he seems very interested in his brothers bed, even sleeping together sometimes which I must say is adorable)
I don’t know what else 2012 will bring for EJ, but I am so excited to have it unfold.  He amazes me every day with his new vocabulary and chill personality, his love of animals and music.  I plan to take it all in and get as many snuggles from him as possible.  Love you!

Savor the Moments

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?  I feel like I say the same thing every year.
1.       Save money
2.      Be healthier
3.      Savor the moments
So, I think I will focus on savoring the moments for the next few days.  This little guy…my oldest, is a bit stubborn.
Yup, apples don’t fall far from the tree that is for sure.  He likes to do things his way and makes that very clear.  He is 3, so it goes with the territory.  But for a moment, I want to just want to take it in.  He hasn’t been the easiest with transition.  In 2012 I hope he will start the following:
sleeping through the night in his own bed (I think I hoped this for 2011 too)
using the potty
preschool
eating more diverse food (and by diverse I mean maybe pasta with sauce and grilled    cheese)
I am excited for another year with my KJ.  As much as he is stubborn, he is also funny and warm and a pretty smart kid.  I see him growing by the second and I am excited to see who he will become.  That stubborn attitude will definitely take him places.  Love you!

Welcome 2012

Happy New Year!  I think New Years Eve is one of my favorite days.  I love the anticipation of the new year and the party atmosphere is so fun.  Also, since January 1 is my birthday I love party ideas this time of year.  And, I have thrown some confetti in my day.  Totally love it!

So, when I saw this invite from You Are My Fave I fell in love.

One day I will throw a party and send you a confetti filled invitation.  Till then, I hope you had a great New Years and Happy 2012 to you!
